Impact of gyro-motion and sheath acceleration on the flux distribution on rough surfaces

چکیده
As was already observed experimentally, the erosion of tungsten (W) coated graphite (C) tiles in ASDEX-Upgrade exhibit regular erosion patterns on the m rough surfaces who’s origin is not fully understood: Surfaces inclined towards the magnetic field direction show strong net W erosion while surfaces facing away from the magnetic field are shadowed from erosion and may even exhibit net W deposition. This paper presents a model which explains the observed erosion/deposition pattern. It is based on the calculation of ion trajectories dropping through the plasma sheath region to the rough surface with combined magnetic and electrical fields. The surface topography used in the calculations is taken from AFM measurement of real ASDEX-Upgrade tiles. The calculated erosion patterns are directly compared to SEM images of the erosion zones from the same location. The erosion on surfaces inclined towards the magnetic field is due to ions from the bulk plasma which enter the sheath gyrating along the magnetic field lines, while the deposition of W on surfaces facing away from the magnetic field is due to promptly re-deposited W that is ionized still within the magnetic pre-sheath. ∗ Corresponding author ([email protected]) Impact of gyro-motion and sheath acceleration on the flux distribution on rough surfaces2

Background and objective: Experience with past earthquakes and numerical analysis confirms that the durability of strong earth motion, significantly can affect the amount of failure of civil engineering systems. However, if the durability is related to a parameter which describes the intensity of the earth's motion, such as maximum velocity or maximum acceleration or spectral acceleration, then...
متن کاملVISCOUS NUTATION DAMPER, MODELING AND ANALYSIS
In some aerospace vehicles, the tracking sensors which act in a tracking loop as stabilizer are mounted on a two degree of freedom gyro. The gyro must align its rotor axis with the line of sight in order to remove tracking errors. The tracking precision and sensitivity are functions of the gyros performance. One of the main factors in reducing the precision and producing instabilities is nutati...
متن کاملAngular Resolved Measurements of Particle and Energy Fluxes to Surfaces in Magnetized Plasmas
In fusion experiments, the energy flux to the target plates is an important issue. In order to spread the heat load, surfaces are usually designed to intersect magnetic field lines at very shallow angles. In the course of this work, a sensitive probe allowing simultaneous measurements of energy flux and current density as functions of a bias voltage was developed. Extensive experimental data on...

The Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), analysis have been used to study and characterize the surfaces morphology. The effect of ...
متن کاملThe influence of respiratory motion on dose distribution of 3D-CRT and IMRT- A simulation study
Background: 3DCRT (three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy) and IMRT (intensity-modulated radiotherapy) has provided us with tools to delineate the radiation dose distribution of tumor targets. However, the precision of radiation can be compromised by respiratory motion, which usually limits the geometric and dosimetric accuracy of radiotherapy. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the imp...
